Many astrology-based compatibility tools will happily tell you that Aries and Libra are "destined" or that two Leos "fight too much." I've been a relationship therapist for 12 years. I have a graduate degree in psychology, not astronomy. Here's my honest take on zodiac compatibility. --- What Astrology Gets Right Astrology is a symbolic language. When an astrology app says "Aries and Libra are opposites," it's actually describing a real psychological dynamic: Aries tends toward directness, Libra tends toward mediation. These are real personality differences. The symbolic framework of astrology — the archetypes of Aries-as-warrior, Libra-as-diplomat — maps loosely to real personality clusters that psychology also recognizes: assertiveness vs. agreeableness, approach vs. avoidance. So when astrology says "Aries needs independence, Libra needs harmony," it's pointing at something that exists, even if the mechanism it proposes (planetary alignment) isn't the explanation. --- What Astrology Gets Wrong Astrology claims the position of planets at birth determines relationship dynamics.
